Tonal Shifts
"TONAL SHIFTS" is the debut of a group of major works where each piece addresses the subtle shifts in tonality dictated by the building of surfaces and volumes. Some of the pieces are solid castings with varying thicknesses and surface engravings. Other pieces are surfaces built from hundreds of elements. The size of the work varies from twenty-four inches to eight feet tall
This is the first new body of work utilizing all the building techniques developed and refined in 2007 for my museum exhibit "White Light: Glass Compositions by Daniel Clayman". In these new works I have reintroduced muted, transparent colors. The melting process captures the trails and bubbles in the castings, making each individual element a unique building block.
